Giving Thanks~

Thanksgiving Prayer

Heavenly Father, on Thanksgiving Day
We bow our hearts to You and pray.
We give You thanks for all You've done
Especially for the gift of Jesus, Your Son.
For beauty in nature, Your glory we see
For joy and health, friends and family,
For daily provision, Your mercy and care
These are the blessings You graciously share.
So today we offer this response of praise
With a promise to follow You all of our days.

--Mary Fairchild

Time really flies. It seems like only yesterday that we were celebrating Thanksgiving. I hope everyone enjoys their holiday and gives thanks unto the Lord for all he gives you. The girl's and I will be cooking our traditional Thanksgiving dinner since we were out of town last year. We have shared many happy memories together cooking in the kitchen. Some of my fondest memories of my grandmother are times with her in the kitchen. I think her corn bread dressing was my favorite. I love the smell of sage. The smell of grated oranges makes me think of my Grandmothers orange fruit cake. I am blessed to be able to prepare her recipes and pass them to my girl's. God gave us the power to smell the sweet memories of sage and oranges to fill our hearts with loving memories instead of loneliness for loved ones that have passed away. We should give thanks everyday for everything we have not just at Thanksgiving. It seems Thanksgiving is the over looked holiday. Why can't we forget Halloween? I think our target store has had Christmas decorations in the back of their store for several weeks. I just cannot listen to the Christmas music yet. It is too early. Since I have been married for twenty years we usually decorate for Christmas on Thanksgiving Day while we cook and watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. Enjoy your time together and make traditions with your children. Have a special recipe that has passed down from generations or one of your recipes you have made and save it just for the holidays. It makes it taste so much better if you only eat it once or twice a year. I blend our Thanksgiving menu with Grandma's recipes and some of my own recipes. I am having smaller servings and planning to walk more. I don’t think depriving ourselves of good food during the holidays in moderation is good for us. Enjoy it and give the leftovers away lol. Sample the tastes of Thanksgiving past by making your Grandmas recipes. Smell the aromas of love all through your house. I hope your Thanksgiving is full of many happy moments and lots of good food. I am thankful for a God who died for my sins and for love of family and friends. Have a Blessed holiday and thanks for coming by.

Psalm 100 - A Psalm of Thanksgiving.

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

Serve the LORD with gladness:
come before his presence with singing.

Know ye that the LORD he is God:
it is he that hath made us,
and not we ourselves; we are his people,
and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,
and into his courts with praise:
be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting;
and his truth endureth to all generations.

Bloom Where Your Planted~

Bloom Wherever God Plants You

A few years ago, a tiny sunflower bloomed in among corn stalks, grass clippings, and weeds I had heaped in an unsightly pile behind my garage. Soon, a larger sunflower and several gladiolas grew up from discarded seeds and bulbs I had considered too small to amount to anything.
What a wonderful example for Christians to bloom wherever God plants them! Too many excuse themselves from serving God by saying, "If only...
"I had a better-paying job," I had a kinder husband," "My wife was more loving," "My kids behaved better," "Our church had a better pastor," "I had more education."
What it the discarded seeds on the trash heap felt that way? If only....
"I had been planted in a weed-free garden," "I had been planted where everyone could see my beauty."
"I refuse to grow in this pile of discards from last year's garden."
The truth of the matter is that the flowers are brighter and more noticeable when contrasted with the dull, decaying refuse. The Bible says, "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
A light shines brightest in darkness. Someone whose life is dark with sin needs to see the beauty of Jesus in you.

My pastor recently preached about Blooming where you are. My prayer is to do just that. I hope that God will use me wherever I am to help someone. Thank you to all my faithful blogger friends. I have not posted in a long time. My mind has been busy for sure and yes, the Face book bug has bitten me. I try to keep that to a minimum. I hope you all are well and happy. Life is good here at the Peeler house. Holly passed all her midterms and is adjusting well to college life. Katie is studying hard and enjoying youth activities at church. Wade is working hard and I am always busy doing something. God never ceases to amaze me with His boundless love. He supplies me with so much Grace I just have to share some with you. For every trial, I have had God hands me a Blessing! I have many prayer requests. Praying for all my lost friends and loved ones.
A dear child from my former church Mari Grace needs your prayers and my friend Lolly stands in need of prayer as well. Please pray for my dear aunt Cheryl and two sweet friends who need a fresh touch from God. Pray for a sweet couple The Birt's they have been struggling with health issues. Please pray for West Gate Baptist Church and Christian school as well as the the staff and teachers there. Pray for my sweet friend Heather who has been such an angel to my daughter. I pray that her broken heart will be mended and she will find the happiness she so deserves. I love you Miss Heather D. Please pray for safe travels for my daughter Holly as she travels to college and back each day. My neighbor who lost his job and needs the Lord in his life. I pray for my pastor and former pastor and all missionaries who are helping to spread the word of God throughout the world such as Brother John and Mrs. Kim O’Malley. My heart goes out to my sweet friend Heather whose husband is a marine and is serving overseas. She is at home with the children and I know how hard that must be for her but she is faithful to her God and he supplies all her needs. I think of my friend Karen who has many health problems but always finds the time to send me a note of encouragement. Dear Gena I pray that God will Bless your home and heal the hurts there. Sweet Anna my heart hurts for you as you struggle with your son. To me the hurt caused by a child is so great my heart goes out to you. I am in no way trying to play God here I am just trying to use my Blog for God's glory! Thank you Jennifer for asking me to get back to my Blog. I have missed all my friends here. If you were not mentioned in my prayer request list I have not forgotten you but felt, these that were mentioned had greater needs. I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful handy work of God all around you this time of year. These pictures are from my gardens. Love to all. Lisa

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Deut 31:6

A Prayer for Mothers~

A Prayer for Mothers

Heavenly Father,
You have given each person the precious gift of having a mother.Throughout the ages, mothers have been the unsung heroes of our lives, content with little things: a smile,a thank you, a token remembrance.May all mothers learn from the example set by Jesus’ mother, Mary,our Mother in Heaven.Let us always remember our mothers as a treasure which You have given us,whether she is still here or in heaven.Pour down Your grace on all mothers today and every day, and help each one of us to live our lives based on the good example, love and devotion which we have learned from them. Amen.

I found this prayer in a guide post!
I want to wish everyone a very Happy Mothers Day! Love & Hugs. Lisa

The Little Things~

Thank you for the little things
That fill my heart with hope.
For thinking of these little things
Sure seems to change the scope...

Budding flowers, seedling trees,
A warm afternoon and a cool summer breeze;

The lady bug, the butterfly
Big puffy clouds in a baby blue sky;

The clover patch, the honey bee,
A Sunday brunch or afternoon tea;

The sparkle of a midnight star,
And wishing on it from afar;

The calming effect of an evening rain,
As it taps against the window pane.

For all these things I can't complain!

So, when my life seems rough to me
I think of all your kindness brings,
And I find my spirits lifted up,
For you truly give my soul it's wings.

I hope everyone is having this lovely weather like we are here in the Carolina's. It feels like Summer here. It is supposed to be in the eighty's today. We have the Ac on and it feels nice. Thanks for coming by. God Bless.Lisa
