Quilts~

GRANDMA'S QUILT
With gentle and loving fingers
She caressed the well worn fold;
'Round each piece a mem'ry lingers
like a sweet story often told.

Life is like a patchwork quilt
And each little patch is a day,
Some patches are rosy, happy and bright,
And Some are dark and gray.

But each little patch as it's fitted in
And sewn to keep it together
Amuck's a finished block in this life of ours
Filled with sun, and with rainy weather.

So let me work on Life's patchwork quilt
Through the rainy days and the sun--
Trusting that when I have finished my block
The master may say: "Well done."

My daughters are very Blessed to have quilts that my Grandmother saved for them. Holly's is the Dutch girl pattern. I used this quilt on my bed when I was growing up. and Katie's is the Star of Bethlehem. Both were sewn in North Carolina where I am from. I have several quilts tops put away to be quilted one day. Who knows maybe I'll take up quilting.I remember as a young girl going to the quilting bees. It was always fun to hear the ladies talk and quilt.

It is a beautiful day here in the upstate. I hope everyone stayed safe from all the storms that were and are brewing on the coasts. We could still use more rain. It's a good Apple picking day :)
Thanks for stopping by.Love -n- Hugs. Lisa ~

Oh, these are such sweet and lovely quilts! The first one reminds me of the vintage holly hobbie bedspreads I recently purchased for my girls on ebay...
And how special for your girls that they were given to them by their grandma!

What beautiful quilts, and how wonderful to have something passed down that way. I do not believe I could sew a quilt like that. I cant seem to cut straight lines :)

Lisa, the quilts are beautiful. My mother in law cochet several bedspreads before she passed away. She left me and my two girls many beautiful ones. I had just got them out and was going though them over the weekend. Matter of fact I took some pictures and going to post them soon. She made pillows also. I have one quilt also. It has many pretty colors. It is wonderful to have such cherished memories. Have a good week. God Bless.

I have to agree with everyone, the quilts are special. I remember the quilting parties my grandmother had when I was a small child. I have one of the quilts in the closet. Hmmm...I should take it out.....
