Is It really Decaf?~

Hello
I hope everyone is well. Sorry I haven't been posting regularly I have been really busy and keeping weird hours. The high school home school program we use Bob Jones LINCS will not be offering live satellite feeds anymore so since we only have two more years to go I am taping classes lots of classes which requires lots of time and lose of sleep :( but since Holly already has the books Katie will need it makes no sense not to do this. I just hate other homeschoolers want have the option to use this great LINCS program. The teachers have masters and doctrine degrees and they have well prepared Holly for college. Bob Jones still offers the for K-8Th grade which is what we used to help home school the girl's through most of their grades. It is like you have a teachers aid but you have the books, you are the teacher. I highly recommend this program. I realize homeschooling is not for everyone but it has worked out well for our family.

Is it really decaf?
We test for the amount of caffeine in decaffeinated coffees.

Try not to lose sleep over this, but you're getting some caffeine when you order decaffeinated coffee. For a snapshot of what consumers might expect from the big chains regarding the amount of caffeine in decaffeinated coffee, we had secret shoppers buy a total of 36 cups of decaf from six locations of Burger King, Dunkin' Donuts, McDonald's, Seattle's Best Coffee, 7-Eleven, and Starbucks near our headquarters in Yonkers, N.Y. All cups were the chains' small size, holding 10 or 12 ounces. Back in our labs, we analyzed the caffeine content. There are no laws about the level of caffeine in brewed decaffeinated coffee in brewed. A cup of regular coffee is typically considered to have about 100 milligrams.More than half of our decafs had less than 5 mg of caffeine, but some had quite a bit more. One of the six cups from Dunkin' Donuts had 32 mg; one from Seattle's Best had 29 mg; and one from Starbucks had 21 mg. Levels of caffeine in the decaffeinated coffees we tested varied within chains, but in our sample, McDonald's decaf consistently had less than 5 mg.Our shoppers bought caffeinated coffee at the same chains, and we found a surprise there, too. Caffeine per cup ranged from 58 mg to 281 mg, providing less or more of a java jolt than you might expect.CR's take. Given that many people sip more than one small cup a day, decaf drinkers might be getting far more caffeine than they bargained for. If you love coffee but not caffeine, limit yourself to one cup of decaf, especially before bedtime.

I have personally experienced the wide awake nights from being served non decaf coffee or maybe it was decaf? I think sometimes the failure to mark pots and just carelessness gets us a good cup of regular so called decaf. DD coffee to me is as good as Starbucks but I do love a Starbucks low fat Carmel machatio thingy can't smell it right lol. Thanks for being faithful to visit. Hugs. Lisa

After coffee I have drank before, I wondered and now I know. It was not totally de=caf. I guess I should be more careful. Thankfully I usually get mine from McDonalds when we travel. Thanks for the infomation. connie

I drink decaf iced tea all day. It never keeps me awake. If it is cold and I decide to have a "decaf" cup of coffee, made in MY HOME, I feel jittery. I am quite sure that those made by others is not quite caffeine free.

I love DD coffee, too. Especially their cinnamon coffee. My favorite is Starbucks Caramel Macchiato(?). I LOVE that. I don't get it but about twice a year because of the price (yikes!) and the caffeine. But it is so delicious.

I have never used online or satellite homeschooling. I have used Bob Jones books, though and I love them. I hope you get some sleep soon!

I've heard about this before and since we drink decaf tea, I've wondered how much caffeine is in it.

I think you're right about the decaf. I've had problems sleeping on occasion after drinking some too late in the day. I didn't know that about Bob Jones. I have friends who used that program for their high schoolers. Wow. That's a lot of work for you! We use the A Beka DVD Home School program which works for us, but I would imagine there are some who would hate it--so much work. We're doing it for credit. My daughter's in tenth grade and I'll tell you, she has long days!

I bet you are truly busy. I am glad that the homeschooling works for you. You are right that it is not for everyone. I know I would not be able to do it.

Decaf story is pretty interesting. Thanks for sharing.

I too, have not been on my blog in a while. So busy and trying to work and get the graduation pics, scrapbooks, and boards done.
