Fall Scented Potpourri Balls~

Fall Scented Potpourri Balls
Use dried leaves, berries, and rinds to make potpourri balls with heavenly scents.

From Better Homes and Gardens Magazine

These potpourri balls will add texture, color, and wafting fragrance to the entry or any other room. You can assemble balls with only one element or use your favorite potpourri mix to create balls that combine varying scents and colors.

Start with 3- or 4-inch plastic foam craft spheres. Use hot glue to attach the potpourri elements all around the balls. Overlap the decorative pieces to completely cover the foam.

Display the balls in individual glass vases, on decorative plates, or together in a larger bowl.

If desired, refresh scents from time to time using drops of aromatic oils. Tiny bottles of various fragrances are readily available from craft stores.

See a list of materials below.

Materials
3- or 4-inch plastic foam craft spheres
Hot-glue gun and hot-glue sticks
Dried potpourri mix or other dried materials such as bay leaves, preserved fall leaves, dried fruit rinds, miniature pine cones, dried berries, and so on.

You could do these for Christmas as well. Yankee candle has some really nice scented oils for the Holidays that you could add to freshen up older potpourri. I burn the Yankee tarts and I love to mix half Autumn leaves and half of a Autumn wreath tart. It smells so good and it's fun to mix these scents.I have potpourri all over my home. I love good smells, it makes us feel better if we smell good aromas since we do stay home a lot with homeschooling.

A hint for refreshing your potpourri. Pour your potpourri into a grocery bag ( I use two) so that none of the potpourri escapes and add about 1 or 2 TBS rubbing alcohol and your scented oil shake the bag really well to blend the alcohol and oil. It really helps to boost the scent.

The leaves are slowing turning here, I think due to our temperature fluctuations. We had some much needed rain last night. It looks like it may rain again this afternoon. I hope you have a great evening. Thanks for dropping by. Warmest regards.

Hi Lisa, I like nice smells in the house too. I like nice smells in vehicles too. Tom thinks I'm trying to choke him to death!!LOL He's OK.. I hope you and your family will know when and where the Lord will guide your daughter. I was told by someone very wise that I should allow Andrea to walk ahead of me but stay just out of her sight and she'll be ok. I'm proud to say that she is doing great at MSU....I'll be thinking of you....k

We've been getting rain all afternoon. We're hoping it stops long enough for my honey to go to a Wake Forest game tonight!
Love the potpourri balls, too. They are so pretty, and I'm sure they would smell delicious. Christie, Ashley and I are all big fans of Yankee Candles. It's really not a good idea for me to go into their store. ;o)
Have a blessed week-end, Lisa.
Hugs,
Karen
