So Now You Know~

So now you know.Someone gave my husband this book for a gift and I thought I wold post some of these things from this book. I don't know if these facts are correct but they are interesting. So here goes.

A "jiffy" is an actual unit of time most commonly interpreted as 1/100Th of a second.

The dot over the letter i is called a tittle. Tittle also means"iota"or "little bit" as in, "I don't care on tittle."

In the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries it was fashionable to wear your wedding ring on your thumb. :)

Pop tarts, introduced in September 14 1964, were named as a pun on "pop art"

Cola flavored JELL-O was introduced in 1942, but flopped and was discontinued within a year; other failed JELL-O flavors include celery, chocolate, coffee and apple.

The Coca-Cola company purchases more sugar than any other company in the world. Besides being a liquid refreshment, Coca-Cola is commonly used to clean toilets, remove rust, baste ham and dissolve driveway grease.

In Shakespeare's time, mattresses were secured on bed frames by ropes. Pulling on the ropes tightened the mattress and made it firmer;hence the expression"Goodnight, sleep tight."

The song "Happy Birthday to you" was originally written by sisters Mildred and Patty Hill as" Good Morning to you"; the words were changed when is was published in 1935. This is amazing! Annual royalties for the song average $2 MILLION...

With just one shock, an electric eel produces enough energy to light up every room in an average three bedroom house.

With the introduction of the Happy Meal, McDonald's became the largest toy distributor in the world.

So now you know. Most of these things I have not heard of and found them interesting.I hope all of you are well and happy :) Thanks for stopping by.

Wow...a few of these I've actually heard somewhere before but some I hadn't and all were fascinating facts!
OK...how depressing...I'm a little bit older than the pop tart.
